Dr. Moody's Weekly Message

Weekly Message

Week of 3/23/20

Good Evening Panther Families, this is Ryan Moody, Principal of Morehead High School with some important updates.

Starting tomorrow, March 23rd, parents of High School students can access supplemental learning materials in CANVAS to assist their child in transitioning to an online learning format.  Rockingham County Schools in conjunction with Instructional Facilitators, teachers, and administrators have developed these materials to assist students in continuing their learning as well as providing additional time for teachers to plan instruction during this extended absence.

Starting on March 30th, all students at MHS will begin working online with their teachers as their direct instructors.  Each day our teachers will be uploading lessons and assignments for students to complete. Also on this date, all students will resume their CCRG courses which are already uploaded in CANVAS.

Also, changes have been made to the 3rd quarter grading period.  While the grading period ended on March 20th, students will have until April 3rd to make up any missing assignments, teacher grades will be due in Powerschool on April 15th, and report cards are planned to go out on April 20th.

Any student who is enrolled in a course through Rockingham Community College will continue their courses starting tomorrow March 23rd in an online format.  For specific questions regarding these courses, please contact your professor.

Please note that over the next few weeks each day will be identified as an optional teacher workday for all RCS schools.  If you must come to MHS to pick up any materials or resources, please note that you will only be allowed to visit the main office area.  All hallways and classrooms will be off limits to anyone outside of RCS employees. We also will be unable to have any face to face meetings with parents or community at this time and ask that you utilize email or phone conferences in the coming weeks.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may create; however, as we navigate these unique times we want to make sure to keep your health and safety as our top priority.

Thank you for your time, stay safe and healthy, and Go Panthers!!
