Dr. Moody's Weekly Message

Weekly Message Week of 8/16/2020 Good Evening Panther Families, this is Ryan Moody, Principal of Morehead High School with this week’s weekly message.

First, we are extremely excited about the start of this school year and thank each of you who came out for last weeks’ open house events or were able to join us on the MHS Panther Parent night.  For questions regarding our schedule or plans for this year, the recording of our Panther Parent night is posted under announcements on our school website.

Tomorrow morning, Monday, August 17th we will begin our online courses starting at 9am.  All students and families are asked to make sure to check their emails and technology this evening prior to the start of school.  Our expectation is all students log in to their classes on time in order to be counted present.  We are taking attendance in every class so please make sure your student is in class online on time.  For questions regarding our daily schedule, please check our school website.

Throughout our virtual class time all students must check their email and Canvas shells on a daily basis for important information coming from your teachers and MHS. Any student needing a schedule change must complete the schedule change request form which will be posted on their grade level Canvas shells on Monday.  We will make every effort to assist in necessary changes; however, due to online courses and having to ensure balance of every class some changes may not be approved.

Any student who has not received their schedule may come to school Monday through Thursday from 10am - 2pm.  Anyone with any Chromebook issues needs to notify their guidance counselor, teacher, or Ms. Wotring as soon as possible in order to ensure you have access to our virtual materials and classes.

If you ordered a yearbook at the end of last year and have not picked it up; please make an appointment with Ms. Krista Stewart to pick it up in the main office between 10am - 2pm, Monday through Thursday.

Finally, an important message for all parents and guardians of our rising 12th graders.  Beginning August 2020, students entering the 12th grade will be required to have a booster dose of the meningococcal vaccine (MCV).  This new immunization requirement is due by October 30, 2020.  This applies to all students, even when participating in remote learning. If your Senior has not already received this dose, please make plans now by contacting your student’s health care provider or the Rockingham County Health Department.  For more information, please contact our school nurse.

As we move into this year, please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any issues or questions regarding our virtual school.  We are excited to welcome all of our Panthers back and cannot wait to see everyone on time tomorrow morning ready to work.

As always, thank you for your time, have a great evening, and Go Panthers!!!
