High School Inclement Weather/Remote Learning Plan


If RCS closes for Inclement Weather and deems the day as a “Remote Learning Day” for students, these will be the expectations for High School Students:




Class Assignment/Expectation to be completed by the student


ELA (if you are not enrolled in ELA this semester you do not do this!)

If you have power/access to Newsela: Complete 30 minutes of reading or 3 articles of your choosing and complete the quizzes. (They may not be the same articles as ones you chose for another class).

If you do not have access to Newsela: Write a one-page paper describing one thing you did today to enjoy the time at home. (Examples are: Spent time with my family, played in the snow, watched my favorite movie, cooked a special meal, etc!) Be sure to use correct grammar, punctuation, and paragraph structure.



Math (if you are not enrolled inMath this semester you do not do this!)

If you have power/access to IXL: Complete 30 minutes of your recommendation sections under the Learning tab in IXL

If you do not have access to IXL: Create five math problems of the current math skill you are studying in your math class. Solve each problem and show your work.


Social Studies (if you are not enrolled in Social Studies this semester you do not do this!)


If you have power/access to Newsela: Complete 30 minutes of reading or 3 articles of your choosing and complete the quizzes. Try to pick a “Social Studies” topic. (They may not be the same articles as ones you chose for another class).

If you do not have access to Newsela: Write a one-page paper describing what a “Snow Day” would have been like 100 years ago. Be sure to use correct grammar, punctuation, and paragraph structure.


Science (if you are not enrolled in Science this semester you do not do this!)


If you have power/access to Newsela: Complete 30 minutes of reading or 3 articles of your choosing and complete the quizzes. (They may not be the same articles as ones you chose for another class). Try to pick a “Science” topic.

If you do not have access to Newsela: Make two graphs. One graph should record the temperature for the day and the other graph should record any amounts of precipitation. You need a morning, mid-day, and evening reading on each graph.


Elective Courses


Read the assigned article and write a paragraph about how the article impacts the perspective of their related field.
