Weekly Message from Dr. Moody

Weekly Message Week of 3/14/2021 Good Evening Panther Families, this is Ryan Moody, Principal of Morehead High School with this week’s weekly message.

We are extremely excited to finally announce that this week is Homecoming week!! All students and staff are invited to participate in dressing up with each day's theme this week. Please check your MHS student body Canvas shell for the themes of the day, have fun, and get involved in the fun of this week.

This year’s powderpuff game will take place this Thursday, March 18th in the football stadium with kickoff set for 7:00pm. Admission is $5.00 and due to Covid 19 screening protocols, only the press box gate will be open.

We hope that everyone will come out to see both our Queen and King courts at halftime of this Friday’s home football game vs. Northeast Guilford High School. Kickoff is set for 6:30pm. Please come out and support our students and football team.

Also, this Friday, March 19th all Seniors are invited to come to school regardless of whether they are A or B day students. Please note that this special day for Seniors is in recognition of Homecoming and a chance to bring our entire Senior class to school together for the first time this year. Each senior will have a special surprise waiting for them before they go home on Friday afternoon.

Also for our seniors, iterviews will begin soon for seniors who are ready to go to full-time permanent work upon graduation. Graduating seniors should reach out to Mrs. Christy Hensley, our MHS Career Development Coordinator by email or phone right away to schedule an interview. DO NOT WAIT! Do not miss out on this great opportunity. Interview slots will fill up quickly. Companies are wanting to begin the hiring process now for June employment.

We are also excited to be offering a new pathway of courses next year at Morehead called Teaching As A Profession for any rising senior who is considering becoming a teacher. Students will have the opportunity to earn college credit towards their teaching certificate while taking these classes in high school. For more information contact Ms. Marsha Roark. Additional information has been posted in the MHS Junior Canvas Shell.

Finally, the end of this grading period is this Friday, March 19th. All students and families must check their Canvas shells to ensure they are caught up on any missing assignments. Please contact your students teacher or guidance counselor regarding any questions.

As always, we cannot wait to see everyone on time tomorrow morning, ready to work.

Thank you for your time, get involved in homecoming this week, have a great evening, and Go Panthers!! .
